- 276 human cases from 36 counties have tested positive for WNV in 2006.
- There have been seven WNV-related fatalities reported in California from Butte (2), Contra Costa (2), Fresno (1), Riverside (1), and Shasta (1) counties in 2006.
- 58 horses from 23 counties have tested positive for WNV in 2006.
- 1,446 dead birds from 53 counties have tested positive for WNV in 2006.
